Traditions can vanish as culture changes, or may change so much as to become unrecognizable. Society depends on folklorists, ethnomusicologists, anthropologists and other ethnographers to capture detailed accounts of the lives and practices of various cultures as told via oral tradition. Our researchers aspire to create ethnographies of a particular culture immersed in the experiences of that culture as a “participant observer.”
